Karen's ride for Malawi

The current project is to complete the classroom block that will house 2 classes. The classroom block is in Zomba, Malawi at the Namitsitsi primary school. When this project is completed we will be working to identify the next project that we plan to begin in the Spring 2013. We hope to construct another classroom block like the one in Zomba. Some of the cost of materials are (roughly) listed below.

bricks: $1.00 per brick

cement: $16 per bag

window blocks: $1 per block

paint: $23 per bucket (5 liter)

fees: $200 per scholarship

Starting September 1, 2011, Karen began a 500 mile ride through 5 New England States to raise awareness and funds for Educate Malawi. This ride took place over the course of 8 days. She rode through MA., CT., RI., NH., and VT. The final total mileage in 8 days was 421 miles.

Starting September 9, 2012 Karen will begin another 500 mile ride in Kittery Maine and ride up the coast of that state raising funds and awareness along the way.
